Steven Merritt
Steven Merritt is the Statistician / Data Analyst for the Office of Institutional Research at Kennesaw State University (KSU). In this role, he works on large research projects in support of KSU’s strategic goals and initiatives and provides statistical information to decision makers at KSU. Additionally, Steven produces reports for ad hoc data requests, as needed. If you ask him, he will say he “professionally stares at numbers all day.”
Higher education institutions, for the most part, are collecting more data than ever
before. Tasked with a strategic project or data request, Steven determines whether
such data is available, extracting the data for analysis from internal databases and
reporting the results. He must develop techniques to overcome problems in data collection
and analysis in order to provide reports, such as retention, progression and graduation
(RPG) at an institutional level.
Steven received his M.S. in Applied Statistics at KSU. In addition, he has a B.S.
in Secondary Math Education and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology. For
“fun,” Steven is an avid computer gamer and for his “inner geek” is a regular attendee
of Dragon Con, the nation’s leading multi-media and pop culture convention!
